SINCE 2014, LCC HAS COMPLETED 52 PERFORMANCES
AT 15 LIVONIA LOCATIONS SERVING MORE THAN 1600 RESIDENTS.
About our "Musical Interludes for Seniors” …
Many of the audience members at Livonia Civic Chorus concerts are senior citizens, mobile elderly who can still go to such events on their own or with the assistance of family and friends. But what about the Livonia seniors who are unable to travel to the concert venue from their care facilities?
We know from research that there is a positive impact of music on health. For elderly people, music has been shown to not only reduce tension and anxiety, but also help reduce the feeling of isolation and solitude. There are many senior care facilities in Livonia where we can offer our musical services.
2019-2020 was the seventh year of this program
and we sang at multiple senior care facilities throughout
our September through May season until the Pandemic
began in March 2020. We have received
funding for this program from the Livonia Community
Foundation.
We also collaborate with Angela Hospice in a
sponsorship arrangement within their network of
senior care facilities.
