Livonia Civic Chorus Awards Scholarships

Madonna University Scholarships

For a number of years, the Livonia Civic Chorus has provided a $500 scholarship to a vocal music student at Madonna University. The student is selected by a committee of Madonna's Music Department based on talent and financial need. The scholarship is used to defray some of the winner's tuition costs.

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Scholarships

The Livonia Civic Chorus also awards choir camp scholarships for Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp located on a 1,300 acre campus in Michigan's Manistee National Forest. Watch for information on this Chorus website for applying for the choir camp scholarships for Summer 2013 for Blue Lake. Middle and high school students entering grades 7-12 in Fall 2013 enrolled in these Livonia schools are eligible: Churchill High School, Franklin High School, Stevenson High School, Clarenceville High School, Ladywood High School, Clarenceville Middle School, Emerson Middle School, Frost Middle School, Holmes Middle School, St. Edith's School, St. Genevieve's School, St. Michael's School, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School, Peace Evangelical Lutheran School, and N.W. Wayne Trainable Center. Interested students should email info@livoniacivicchorus.org for further information.

December 2011 Madonna University Scholarship

Karla Martus was selected by the Music Department of Madonna University to receive the $500 scholarship from the Livonia Civic Chorus. The LCC Board also presented a free year of membership to the Chorus for Karla. LCC wishes Karla well in her music studies at Madonna.

Summer 2011 Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Scholarship

The winner of the 2011 Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Scholarship from the Livonia Civic Chorus is ALEX OSTROSKIE, a junior at Stevenson High School in Livonia. Alex began singing about a year and a half ago when he joined the school choir. He says he fell in love with singing from the moment he started choir. He appreciates that the Livonia Civic Chorus has awarded him a scholarship to attend Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp to further his choral work.

December 2010 Madonna University Scholarship

The Livonia Civic Chorus provides annual music scholarships to help develop and promote the vocal music talent of local students. The Chorus recognized Marlena Hampton from Madonna University, the recipient of an LCC $500 scholarship. Marlena is a first year music student at Madonna University with a concentration in vocal performance. She is a nontraditional student, returning to pursue a music degree as the culmination of a lifelong dream. Marlena has earned two previous degrees - a BA in psychology from the University of Michigan and a MA in counseling from Oakland University. Marlena currently performs with The United Voices of Detroit, where she is a featured soloist. Sharon Krol, Chair of the LCC Scholarship Committee, also presented Marlena with a year's free membership in the Chorus.

The Livonia Civic Chorus performs each year to provide funds for scholarships to enhance the education of Livonia students. A $500.00 scholarship is given to a Madonna University vocal music student. Also, one or two full paid scholarships to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is awarded to a Livonia Middle  or High School vocal music student.
