About the Livonia Civic Chorus

  • Founded in 1965 by the City of Livonia Department of Parks and Recreation
  • Celebrating our 52nd season with 60 VOLUNTEER members
  • While most of the Chorus is from Livonia, there are 14 other communities represented
  • We have one Charter Member, Hank Kanar
  • There are 8 members who've been with the Chorus more than 25 years
  • The Livonia Civic Chorus is a 501c(3) charitable organization
  • Livonia City Hall of Fame, Class of 2014
  • Awarded more than $40,000 in music scholarships to more than 85 Livonia middle school, high school, or college students.
  • In 2016 performed two major concerts, one benefit concert, nine "Musical Interludes for Seniors", and six outreach events.
  • Weekly Tuesday rehearsals from September to May at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seven Mile west of Farmington, Livonia.

The Livonia Civic Chorus is dedicated to providing an opportunity for its members to mature in music appreciation and performance to provide quality choral music for its audiences while generating revenue to support its activities and provide scholarships to deserving vocal music students enrolled in educational institutions within the City of Livonia.
